For a ship with this guest capacity, the elevators are quite small. Besides disembarkation morning, there were several other times that we waited multiple passes to find an elevator that had enough room for the two of us. After breakfast, it was time to work off a few calories or at least pretend that we did. Up to the Ultimate Playground, we took a few laps around the jogging track before trying our luck at mini-golf. While I’ve been known to play a mean game of cruise ship mini-golf, my losing streak continued. After dinner, it was time to enjoy more of the comedy available around the ship.

I also had a wonderful time at two special events — complimentary afternoon tea and an extra-fee Dr. Seuss-themed Thing 1 and Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast — held in the Atlantic Restaurant. Both serve the same menu for dinner, but only the larger Pacific Restaurant is open for Sea Day Brunch on sea days and breakfast (but not lunch) on port days. One of the best ways Carnival provides value to its customers is through its food offerings. Complimentary dining abounds on Carnival Jubilee, and the variety of cuisines is impressive. First is Family Harbor, which offers nautically themed cabins that sleep up to five people and rooms that can be connected via an interior door. Families booked in Family Harbor cabins have access to a dedicated Family Harbor Lounge, which offers daily breakfast, snacks and drinks, as well as board games and TVs with a selection of movies and video games. They also receive a free night of babysitting in the kids club so parents can enjoy some alone time. The Currents Zone (midship-aft on decks 6 and 7) changes from day to night and also throughout the current voyage.

It’s just steps away from the aft Tides Pool deck area as well as the main Lido deck, meaning there’s lots of seating options both indoors and outdoors. On my sailing, I tested out fare from The Pacific main dining room; Chibang! What's nice about Carnival's newer ships is that they offer a choice of more cabin categories than the line's older vessels. On Carnival Jubilee, options include inside cabins, outside rooms with windows, balcony accommodations and mini-suites, which are basically larger balcony cabins that have more closet space and can sleep up to four people. The room stewards worked hard to make sure every cabin was sparkling and set up just perfectly. Even though some of the restaurants weren't open, waiters were in their uniforms to do dry runs of evening dinner service.

At the Alchemy Bar, passengers can sign up for the Martini Tasting, where bartenders (referred to as “alchemists”) take guests through a flight of mini Martinis of their choice. In The Shores zone, an area of the ship inspired by beachside boardwalks and piers, passengers can grab a slice of pizza at Coastal Slice or order a panini or hot dog at Beach Buns. Carnival has brought its Cloud 9 spa, salon and fitness center to Carnival Jubilee. They feature a plethora of pampering treatments that run the gamut from massages and facials to manicures and pedicures, hair styling and classes like yoga and spin.

During this 90-minute class, our group prepared some of Emeril’s favorites including world-renowned New-New Orleans Pasta, Shrimp & Okra Gumbo, and Strawberries Romanoff. Afterwards, we attempted to catch the last quarter of the tailgate in Summer Landing, but it had seemingly ended as there was just some live music when we arrived. There were some inconsistencies between the Fun Times paper daily and the HUB app, so we’d suggest checking both if there’s an activity that you can’t miss. Another Vista-class type of cabins are Family Harbor (clustered near Camp Ocean/kids club) and with direct access to the exclusive Family Harbor Lounge. Cloud 9 Spa staterooms traditionally offer exclusive amenities, including premium bathrobes and slippers and Elemis brand toiletries. For dinner, I ordered the arancini and chicken parm; Don ordered the calamari and the short rib.

They feature light fixtures befitting the Great Hall at Hogwarts Castle and look as if they contain water bubbles. The regular battery of daily programming — trivia, game shows, pool games, etc. — also wasn't offered since there were no passengers. In other words, this wasn't a typical sailing, so my account is limited to the aspects of the ship I could experience. Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is allowed but only in designated outdoor areas on Deck 8 mid-ship on the starboard side.
On my sailing, the bartenders were phenomenal and even remembered that I prefer non-dairy milk with my lattes. On the wall above Dr. Inks, window-shaped screens provide a show for anyone passing through the length of the Currents promenade area. Programming rotates between underwater adventures, nature scenes and even artwork produced by passengers and kids from St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
